edible Lehigh Valley features the Nazareth Farmers Market
We are pretty excited to have our very own farmers market featured in the Spring 2026 issue of edible Lehigh Valley. The spring issue focuses on MONEY. We know… it's a weird place for a farmers market to be featured, but maybe not.
The Nazareth Farmers Market is a very special place, everyone who visits recognises that right away. Many of our vendors have been with us for years and our customers are among the most loyal. It's a perfect place to stock up on veggies, find some fantastic baked goods, grab a bite to eat, find a plant, a gift and even a treat for your favorite furry friend. The market is also a great gathering space for meeting up with friends and making new ones.
Now here's the money part. We know our shoppers have many choices when it comes to spending their hard earned dollars and we appreciete every customer and every purchase they make with us. According to the Farmers Market Coalition, American farmers receive 17 cents for every dollar spent on food, however at farmers markets, farmers retain almost 90 cents of every dollar. That is significant. We also know that the market is not the only stop shoppers make on a Saturday, they head downtown to shop in our stores and support our local businesses. The National Federation of Independent Businesses notes that an average of 67 cents stays local when spent in downtowns. That’s where the money is.
But wait, there is more. The Nazareth Farmers Market serves as a local business incubator. Yes, more money in the local economy. Cody’s Eats and Sweets, Bella Bean Coffee Shop, Sutcliffe Designs 3D Print Factory, Joint Goods, Maddies Strudel Haus and The Curious Plantaholic all began at the Nazareth Farmers Market. And we love that many of them continue to call Nazareth home.
Be sure to check out the Spring Edition of edible Lehigh Valley and discover how food affects our economy and how the economy affects food. Also, keep an eye out for the next edition of edible, we heard a rumour that another Nazareth business might be featured.
